Many thanks to SRAA contributor, Tom Laskowski, who shares the following recording and notes:

This program from January 24, 1982 from my archives is from Radio Canada International which was called Bonsoir Africa. This was somewhat of a mailbag program which read listeners letters. I was fortunate to have a tape recorder running since this was a program about astronomy that was requested by me. This may be the first time I ever heard my name read on shortwave. What a thrill. Enjoy.

Audio quality is only fair for this recording. I will try not to post recordings of Media Network which are already available on Jonathan Marks' Media Network Vintage Vault website.

radio-rsa-1-logo.jpg

Many thanks to SRAA contributor, Tom Laskowski, who shares the following recording and notes:

Every Saturday night during the early 1980s [in South Bend, Indiana] I would regularly tune to 9580 kHz at 0200 to listen to Radio RSA (Channel Africa as it is now known) to hear DX Corner, their regular DX program. This episode from March 14, 1982 was a look at the brand new hot radio, the Sony ICF-2001. The audio isn't great but should be listenable. I think this was recorded using my new Realistic DX-302. Enjoy!

Radio Tahiti: February 7, 1982

Date of recording: 2/7/1982

Starting time: 0616 UTC

Frequency: 11.825

Notes:
This was one of the first DX stations I logged when I got started in SWLing - DXing. Radio Tahiti was a nice music station to listen to on cold winer nights here in the northern hemisphere. Sadly this is no longer on the air, but I was happy toke this recording. I used a DX-302 with outside wire antenna. Recorded Feb. 7, 1982 on a frequency of 11.825 kHz possibly 15.170 kHz.

I used to make it a habit to tune to this station just to hear this great Inverval
Signal and sign-on. This usually boomed in on 7255 kHz at sign-on. I have not listened
in years but hope it is still there. I probably logged this on my ICF-2001 back then.

Radio Luxembourg (German Language Service): February 1982

The German service of RTL was recorded late on a Saturday/early Sunday morning Europe in either February or March 1982.  For those who speak German, there are news headlines that could pinpoint the exact date, so any help given would be greatly appreciated.

If you can help Paul ID headlines in this recording, please comment!

Radio Atlantida: October 1982

Many thanks to SRAA contributor, Paul Harner, who submits the following recording and notes:

In October 1982, I logged my first short wave broadcast station from Peru.  It was during a Friday night when I heard Radio Atlantida.  The station broadcast on 4790 kHz from Iquitos.  This was recorded on a 3" reel-to-reel machine I had purchased at a yard sale that summer.
