Radio station Voz Cristiana from Santiago, Chile is heard here with a test transmission and announcement in English on April 28, 1998. My logbook says they were operating on 21550 kHz. Receiving post was in Thamesford, Ontario, Canada and I was using a Panasonic RF-3100 portable receiver hooked up to a longwire antenna.

Radio Presidente Balmaceda (Chile): circa 1970s

Radio Presidente Balmaceda  9590 kHz in  Santiago Chile was logged at the time of the Allende crisis in 1971. As a DXer I became attracted to the station because it was heard so well in NZ,and offered them a taped English segment to be played prior to sign off one evening. on a pre arranged date. I recorded Maori vocal items which would be novel to the audience and the tape with my EE announcements was played prior to close down at 0500UTC on that date in July 1971.

The Voice of Chile - 1979 - received in Victoria B.C. Canada

The 70's were a tumultuous time in Chile but one of the more positive things to come out of that era was a powerful and professional sounding National voice under the Pinochet regime. The Voice of Chile was a byproduct of that era and I was blessed to find a very clean recording of them from the Spring of 1979. Received on the west coast on my DX150B and a simple inverted-L antenna - recorded on an old mono cassette recorder from Sears that was bought in 1971!
