Here are two more back to back episodes from my collection of recordings of Shortwave Listener's Digest from Radio Canada International, this time from August 09, 1982 and August 16, 1982. This program's highlights are: more talk about submarine cables, changeover from GMT to UTC, part one of harmonics DXing by Glenn Hauser. The second program highlights are: more talk about submarine cables and ANARC news from Jeff White reporting on the 1982 ANARC convention, part 2 of Glenn Hauser's harmonics report.

Here are two back to back episodes of Glenn Hauser's World of Radio from August 8 and September 12, 1982. WOR normally aired on WRNO on Sundays at 2330 UTC on 11.955 MHz.

Some of the program highlights are:

Part 1: An expert's view of Cuban broadcasting (Ronald Schatz), Cuban interference to US AM stations, the beginning of AM stereo in the US, new Canadian MW station proposals, SW program notes, items on Radio Quince de Septiembre and Radio Venceremos, La Voz del CID, Radio Tachira Venezuela, a new RRI station from Padang on 6812 kHz.

Notes: Radio Canada International English language shortwave broadcast to Africa that aired on January 9, 1982 including a newscast and the Shortwave Listener's Digest with Ian McFarland. The SWL Digest included Glenn Hauser's look back at shortwave in 1981, report about the Voice of Free China being relayed on WYFR Radio, a taped message from David Monson formerly on Belgium Radio & TV, and an update on the Handicapped Aid Program.

Ray Briem Show on DXing and Shortwave Listening aired on the ABC Talk Radio Network. The show features many shortwave recordings/interval signals plus interviews with Stewart MacKenzie (American Shortwave Listener's Club), Dr. Richard E. Wood (well known DX-er), Tom Meijer (Radio Netherland’s Happy Station program), Arthur T. Cushen (well known blind DX-er), Glenn Hauser (Review of International Broadcasting/World of Radio), Ian McFarland (Radio Canada International’s Shortwave Listener’s Digest), H. D. Norman (NDXE Radio which never made it on the air), Joe Costello (Owner of WRNO Worldwide) and callers. The recording has popping sounds that were not able to be fully filtered out.

Radio Clarin (Dominican Republic) with This is Santo Domingo with Rudy Espinal broadcast in 1978. This English language broadcast includes music from the Dominican Republic, talk about a recent power outage, SPEEDX (Society for the Preservation of the Engrossing Enjoyment of DXing) magazine, ANARC (Association of North American Radio Clubs) convention at Radio Canada International in Montreal, and a NASWA (North American Shortwave Association) DX Report with Glenn Hauser.

Here are two back to back episodes of Glenn Hauser's World of Radio from April 11 and April 25, 1982. WOR aired on WRNO on Sundays at 2330 UTC on 11.955 MHz plus one other time slot.

Some of the program highlights are

Part 1: Monitoring the Falkland Islands situation, Adrian Peterson presents a feature of the Falkland Islands Broadcasting Service, discussion of the close-down of Radio New Zealand's SW service (note the "Russian Woodpecker" during the RNZ segment), news about Radio CBN, Bolivian radio news, an item about the highest transmitter in the world, Radio Quince de Septiembre being jammed, illegal SW broadcasts to Cuba.

Part 2: A new shortwave station to begin broadcasting during the World's Fair in Knoxville, TN, Radio New Zealand still on the air (mention of me getting a letter from the Prime Minister of New Zealand), Radio Moscow special programming for May Day, Radio Nacional do Brazil schedule, CBC's Morningside program, Radio Ghana back on the air, items from Review of International Broadcasting, items on equipment suppliers Radio West and Shortwave Horizons (Canada), Directory of World Band Radio from Sony, audio clip from Radio Solidarity from Poland, Athens Greece radio hoax.

One of Glenn Hauser’s more interesting “extra” programs to me over the years was his radio 1981 summer vacation recordings to South Dakota (near the Nebraska border).

Attached is the entire WRNO recording of that program (which aired on Sep 8, 1984). This was before he “air numbered” the programs.

This program's highlights are: A note on the upcoming ANARC convention in Montreal (which I attended), Adrian Peterson's report on mediumwave stations heard from Southern Asia, a follow-up question regarding Larry Magne's report on antennae for apartment dwellers, Glenn Hauser's DX news. The second program's highlights are: Harold Sellers with a report on clocks used for DXing, a final note on the ANARC convention with a rundown of the planned convention schedule, part one of discussion of undersea cables and Glenn Huaser's DX news.

This program's highlights are: A promo for the upcoming 1982 European DX Council meeting, part one of Larry Magne's discussion of shortwave receiving antennas, Glenn Hauser's DX news, part two of Larry Magne's antenna discussion focusing on antennae for apartment dwellers, Who's on the Air featuring TIFC Cost Rica and finally Glenn Hauser's DX news.

This portion of Glenn Hauser's World of Radio show was taped in August of 1987 with my Sony ICF7600 receiver on 9850 kHz. It was on at 0200 UTC but I can't remember the station it was on. Perhaps it was WRNO.

Here is another one of my many recordings of Shortwave Listener's Digest from Radio Canada International, this time from January 4, 1982. This program highlights are: Glenn Hauser with his Year in Review for the previous year of 1981; part 1. Larry Magne with a test report for the Panasonic RF-9000 which listed at $US 3800!!!. The program ends with Glenn Hauser's second part of his review of the previous year's highlights. Unfortunately the broadcast suffers from some adjacent-channel interference.

This recording features Glenn Hauser's World of Radio program, KCBI ID and address, and sign-off of the frequency.
